Geh, I was suppose to release this review ealier, but I was busy playing games and sucky internet connection. Oh well, better late than never eh ? As usual, spoilers for those who haven’t watch, so proceed with caution.

Okay, what’s my thought of the movie ? First, before I give my thoughts, my expectation first. Honestly, I wasn’t looking forward to this movie. Nah-uh, nadda. Why ? Well, when they first mention about this film having 3 villains, I already had doubts, because it ain’t easy to fit these guys in a 2 hour movie. They have to expand their storyline and all, so I don’t think it will work out. The only movie I’ve seen where they put more than 1 villain which worked was Batman series ( do minus Batman and Robin out ).

Next, the ultimate thing that put my expectation low for this movie, when I heard it will be focusing Venom. Oh good…I have a bad feeling about this. Why ? Well, for one, Venom will require A LOT of CG animation for sure, so I was worried that he might look like crap. Turned to be that he didn’t really look like crap after seeing some of his shots from the trailer, but my eye brow rise when I saw his body size…yeah, he’s short like Peter.

Bah, despite my doubts, I went to the cinema to watch with Aizat, Naz, Adib and Faz. Was it worth my RM 9 ?

Hell No.

What went wrong ? Okay, for one, all the things that I feared really came to reality, they couldn’t fit in all the villains at the same time. The characters were undeveloped, except for Harry, since he was in the first two movies. However, it felt hanging at certain points even for Harry. I think it would have been much better if the director would just focus on 2 villains rather than 3. Also, things were left unexplained, like how and where the heck the rock that contain Venom came from ? Where the heck Sand-man go in the end ??

Next, the director’s motive which is to tell the viewers that Spider-Man is like a normal human being, who can also feel anger, like a normal person who blah blah…WHATEVER MAN ! Look, I know that Spider-Man is like a normal person, have emotion, feelings and all, but seriously, who’s interested in seeing that ? I’ve seen that in Spider-Man 2, I want to see something else, different conflicts, rather than always focusing on Spidey.

M.J. aka Kristen Dust. Yes, another thing to point out. She SUCKS as MJ. Her acting is too corny and cheesy, even worse than the first two films. Speaking of cheesy, the film suffers from a lot of corny and cheesy scenes and dialogue. I would just turn away from the screen whenever there was these scene, and if I could I would like to shut my ears whenever I hear those corny dialogue…

Last and the most important of all, changes the director made. First of all, we got, like Naz said, “emo” Sand-man ?? I mean, what the heck ?? He suppose to ruthless ( as far I can remember ). Plus, Sand-man was acting was too stiff. Harry ? Why the heck did he died ? I know he was suppose to die, but not at that point I remember. Of course, the thing that I was mad about, VENOM. WHY THE HECK VENOM BODY SIZE IS LIKE A THIN DUDE ?? WHY THE HECK VENOM SPEAKS LIKE A NORMAL PERSON ?? SINCE WHEN VENOM SWINGS AROUND ??? VENOM’S WEAKNESS IS…SOUND VIBRATION ?? GAAHH !!! Sam Raimi fail BIG time when he brought in Venom. I knew it wouldn’t work out when he brought in Venom. Yeah, I was a sucker to get excited at the beginning when I saw Spidey’s black suit. I even hated that black version of Spidey, coz it was just basically Spidey in a black suit.

Okay, I guess that’s enough about the bad things, lets talk about the good things. Umm, Gwen, the part where Peter change to his new version and the humor parts. Yup, thats about it. Nope, I wasn’t impress with the effects, because they look so CGI, and Spidey’s battle scene didn’t impress one bit.

So, in conclusion, this film fails hard. It might please fans who never read the comics.

I give it a 3.5 / 10. ( I wanted to give it a 3, but meh, Gwen was hot )
