.::. Gubra
April 21, 2006I should have done a review earlier, but I was just plain busy and also lazy.
Anyway, I went to watch Gubra with Aizat. Overall ? It was quiet an experience. Just a short review from me. Be warned though, there are some spoilers.

Gubra is the sequal or continuation of Sepet. The story is focus on two different families. The first family is Orkid, the heroine from Sepet who has already married with another person. The other family is a Bilal, a new character introduce in this movie, and his neighbours, who are prostitutes. What I love about this movie is that you can understand the movie straight away, even though you haven’t yet watch Sepet. Also, thier actors and actress acting are all spontaneous and real-life like, not like most malay movies which are lame, stiff, stupid, and formal. Though it was focusing on drama, there were times where I chuckled hard, looking at the wittiness of the Orkid and Bilal family. There were also some touching moments, like the part where Temah ( one of the prostitues ) found out that she was HIV positive, and she couldn’t tell her son about it and also the part where Temah wanted to learn reading the Al-Quran from Mas.
Overall, its a good movie, and I highly recommend you to watch it.
